Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins suspended for PEDs by DJ Hamilton

It seems like the Arizona Cardinals can’t catch a break this offseason, from their disgruntled young star quarterback in Kyler Murray causing confrontation with the organization, due to not receiving the contract he believes he deserves, to their primary wide receiver option, DeAndre Hopkins testing positive for PEDs (performance enhancement drugs), violating the NFLs policy.

According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33844230/sources-arizona-cardinals-wr-deandre-hopkins-suspended-six-games-violating-ped-policy , the league announced on Monday that Hopkins will be suspended the first six games of the season, which is a big blow to the Cardinals’ dynamic offensive attack in the passing game with Murray and Hopkins.

Hopkins’ suspension comes just a few days after the franchise traded away their first-round pick to acquire Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. He will still be able to interact with the team in practices and preseason until his season debut in Week 7. Hopkins is a three-time first-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection, who will be turning 30 years old on June 6th, and is coming off a season where his numbers went down across the board due to injuries with his ankles, before suffering a MCL injury in Week 14.

He accumulated just 572 yards and eight touchdowns on 42 catches a year after having 1,407 yards the year prior. The Cardinals went 3-4 without him until getting blown out 34-11 in the playoffs. In his short two years as a Cardinal, Hopkins had 157 receptions for 1,979 yards and 14 touchdown catches.

This has been a very tumultuous season for the Cardinals, and now with this latest news on Hopkins they will have to figure out how to win games without their best receiver for about a third of the season. WIll the Cardinals make the postseason?
