Rape case of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo dismissed with prejudice by DJ Hamilton
On Friday, Portuguese superstar soccer play, Cristiano Ronaldo, was dismissed of alleged rape eith a woman back in 2009 at a Las Vegas Hotel. Judge Jennifer Dorsey dismissed the accusations and stated that the attorney for the accuser, Kathryn Mayorga, was participating in misconduct that could have made an unfair trial for the soccer star. Mayorga stated, "Because of her attorney's abuses and flagrant circumvention of the proper litigation process, Mayorga loses her opportunity to pursue this case and attempt to unwind the settlement of claims that, themselves, implicate serious allegations of a highly personal nature.”
Dorsey dismissed the case with prejudice which will prevent Mayorga from being able to refile a complaint. Mayorga states she was coerced into signing a nondisclosure agreement of hush money worth $375,000 settlement following the alleged rape, which Ronaldo has maintained was a consensual sexual encounter.
Dorsey also discovered that one of Mayorga's attorneys, Leslie Stovall, reached out to the source of the leak to obtain the documents, which also included "the reporting and communications of the attorneys and investigators representing and defending Ronaldo following the sexual assault thru the negotiations and conclusion of the settlement and non-disclosure agreement."
Ronaldo, 37, is one of the highest paid, most recognizable athletes on the planet, and though he did concede to doing sexual activities with Mayorga, he did state it was consensual and that no force was put on against her.
Stovall will have an opportunity to appeal the decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
